As you begin to use the eBay auction site, you’ll notice that it can be difficult to make your listings stand out.  As an international site with millions of listings at any one time, you are bound to find someone else (and usually several others) offering the same product as you.  How can you make sure that your item is the most attractive one on the search return list?

 There are several tools on the eBay site that can help you make your auction stand out above the rest.  Though most of them cost extra, they can drastically increase your chance of profitability.  For example, one of the easiest ways to showcase your eBay listing is to add a gallery image.  This picture will appear on the search return page next to the title of your listing.  It allows customers to preview your item without having to click on anything and open up another window.  This is also one of the least expensive ways to help your listing stand out.  Unfortunately, this is a common solution, so your item may still get lost in the shuffle.

The next step is to add a subtitle to your listing.  This is for further explanation and description of the listing, again prior to opening up the full description.  That allows a potential buyer to determine if his or her interest is great enough to continue on with the viewing of the auction.  You can also achieve greater visibility with a bolded or highlighted auction listing.  This makes it stand out among all the other listings, either in a darker, larger print or backed with a bold color, like purple or green.

You can also create a premier listing that places your auction at the top of every search page for a related keyword.  That means that, if there are hundreds of listings under a keyword heading and you have to scroll through pages, it will be at the top of every page.  Note that this is an expensive way to showcase an eBay listing, which means that you should only use this option for a special auction that is guaranteed to sell for a large profit margin.  With so many tools to choose from, though, if you find the right combination, you’ll be able to make your auction stand out above the competition.
